What is the Life Path number?

Your Life Path Number is the most significant number in your numerology chart, acting as the over-arching influence on who you are and the life you will lead.

It is the first core number that is looked at in any numerology reading, and is the sum of your birth date numerals.

This number tells the tale of the journey that all persons with a given Life Path Number will go on, and is a template for that journey, It describes the direction your life will take, the challenges you’ll encounter, and the opportunities you’ll meet.

You may even learn about traits and talents that you didn’t even know you had, but which are innate in you.

This number is that which most dictates the best ways to achieve fulfillment and happiness in your life. Your life path number will enable you to identify your strengths, skills, and weaknesses, as well as how to recognise and deal with the negative aspects of your life.

The Life Path Number is astonishingly accurate because it provides specific and reliable information.  The very essence of a person is held within the Life Path Number, so it is the principle piece of the puzzle to understanding yourself and your life.

Your Life Path was given to you the moment you came into this world, the moment you came to life and you started down the road you will travel.

If ever there was a moment of total transformation, it was the moment of your birth. In that instant you stepped through a portal, out of the light and into the world. The nature of your journey through this reality is revealed by your Life Path number.

It must be remembered that the journey described by the Life Path Number is only a template, merely a starting point for your personal numerology reading, because each of us has a specific combination of core numbers that make up the whole picture of our lives and personalities.

How to calculate the Life Path number.

Here’s how to do basic numerology to calculate a Life Path number from a date of birth. The Life Path is simply based on your full birth date.

For example, for someone born on the following date:

October 11th, 1989.

Reduce your month of birth to a one-digit number. October is the tenth month of the year, so 1 + 0 = 1

Reduce your day of birth to a one-digit number. In our example, this is the 11th, so 1 + 1 = 2

Reduce your year of birth down to a one-digit digit. The year is 1989, so 1 + 9 + 8 + 9 = 27, and 2 + 7 = 9

Then add those 3 numbers together, and reduce this to a single digit (or Master Number)…. Easy! 

In our example, 1 + 2 + 9 = 12, and 1 + 2 = 3, so the Life Path Number is 3.

The master number exception.

In Numerology, 11, 22, & 33 are Master Numbers. This means they have unique significance that require stand-alone readings. If you reach totals of 11, 22 or 33 in your final calculations, you don’t need to continue reducing. So stop your calculation there.
